The Firm is proud to be one of the founding members of the Justice Served hunger relief campaign, an important initiative of Food Bank For New York City, one of our oldest pro bono clients.

Partner Lary Stromfeld conceived of Justice Served in 2015 and has been chairing this NYC legal industry-wide campaign ever since. Our relationship with Food Bank For New York City traces back to our former chairman and managing partner, the late Jack Fritts, who helped found Food Bank and was instrumental in its growth and success. He incorporated Food Bank in 1983 and served in various Board roles over the years. In 2018, Food Bank dedicated its Bronx warehouse in his honor, naming the facility “The Jack Fritts Food Distribution Center.”

In February, Cadwalader and partner Stuart Goldstein were mentioned in an article, “Charlotte Ranked Among Top Walks Nationwide To End Alzheimer’s,” which appeared in Charlotte Stories, an online news publication devoted to the Queen City. In celebration of Black History Month, Cadwalader’s Black and Latino Association (CBLA) and the Black Employees’ Network of Morgan Stanley’s Legal and Compliance Division explored the Tenement Museum’s newest exhibit A Union of Hope: 1869. A Union of Hope tells the story of Joseph and Rachel Moore, Black New Yorkers who made their home in Lower Manhattan’s tenements in the 1860s and 1870s. Following the tour, CBLA members and Morgan Stanley attendees had an opportunity to network and engage in a post-tour discussion with the museum’s curator. CBLA and Morgan Stanley have partnered together on a Black History Month event for the last five years, and we look forward to continuing this partnership in the years to come.

In March, London partner Adam Blakemore volunteered his time to interview Year 10 students at Sarah Bonnell School who are applying for the role of prefect for their final school year. All students in Year 10 were given the prefect job description and invited to apply by filling out a formal application form. The applicants were then invited to an interview slot. As part of professionalizing the role of prefects, for the sixth year running, the school invited external interviewers from the business world to interview the students. The aim is to give students a realistic experience of a job interview, with someone they don’t know, and to ensure it is a fair and transparent process.
