Cadwalader continues to be committed to reducing the environmental impact of our business practices, and we have undertaken numerous broad-based initiatives to become more environmentally conscious in all of our locations and in all of our functional areas.
The 22nd installment of our Civil Rights Series was held in April. Stanley Richards, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of The Fortune Society, and Zachary Katznelson, Executive Director of The Independent Commission on New York City Criminal Justice and Incarceration Reform, joined us to discuss the history of Riker’s Island, the formation and role of the Lippman Commission, and what’s next for Rikers and beyond. In celebration of National Small Business Week in May, the Firm hosted a Small Business Pop-Up Shop with our pro bono partner Start Small Think Big to support small local businesses, including some of our former pro bono clients.
Our 2021 Pro Bono Report is now live. Whether by assisting vulnerable immigrants to obtain legal status through our Immigration Clinic, providing guidance in the formation of nonprofit organizations or helping transgender clients with name changes, our goal is to provide the best client service possible.
