Attorney Development & Legal Recruitment Manager

The Manager of Attorney Development and Legal Recruitment, working closely with the Hiring Partner, NC Office Administrator, the Director of Legal Recruitment and the Chief Attorney Development and Inclusion Officer, is responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the Attorney Development and Legal Recruitment Department to support the needs of the NC office.

Essential Functions:

 Professional Development Responsibilities:

·         Act as a liaison between associates and firm management on various issues related to professional development,
associate life and other issues

·         Counsel and advise attorneys on career development

·         New Attorneys

o    Coordinate and prepare for First-Year Fundamentals

o    Execute integration initiatives for lateral attorneys and first-year associates

o    Coordinate mentor assignments; maintain mentor/mentee expenses and monitor participation in program

o    Offer support to attorneys, including how to use firm resources

·         Talent Development Model

o    Attorney Evaluations:

§  Prepare all review materials, including writing review summaries

§  Participate in discussions regarding attorneys’ performance

§  Maintain and monitor attorney evaluation database

§  Assist in coordination of evaluation meetings and participate in meetings

o    Professional Development Plans:

§  Review plans of all NC attorneys

§  Serve as a resource to attorneys while effectuating plans

o    Staffing

§  Assist with staffing as needed; assist associates achieve benchmarks

·         Training

o    Work with various practice groups/departments regarding attorney training and CLE activities

o    Collaborate with the NY office to assist in firm-wide professional development initiatives

o    Coordinate with attorneys regarding needs and resources for professional development

Legal Recruitment Responsibilities:

·         Manage the NC on-campus recruiting and summer associate program

·         Maintain relationships with career services, leverage school alumni, and oversee Firm sponsorships of student
groups

·         Analyze trends; provide strategic advice regarding recruiting

·         Provide strategic advice to hiring committee as needed

·         Manage the hiring process of lateral associate candidates

·         Liaison with partners to understand and strategize lateral associate practice group hiring needs

Other:

·         Supervise junior members of the team, as needed

·         Prepare and manage NC ADR budget

·         Coordinate with other ADR members in other offices to effectuate firm-wide initiatives, including
pro bono and diversity

·         Other duties as assigned

 

Position Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for this position must:

·         have a Bachelor's degree; a J.D. is preferred

·         have at least 4-5 years of management experience in law firm legal recruiting & professional development;
also, experience as practicing attorney in large law firm is preferred

·         have strong leadership and management skills

·         work collaboratively with others

·         act with the highest level of discretion

·         have outstanding written and verbal communication abilities
