Email Five EU member states have extended their temporary bans on short selling imposed in line with the emergency process permitted by the EU Short Selling Regulation, despite increased pressure from hedge funds to remove the current restrictions. Regulators in Austria, Belgium, France, Greece and Spain have now extended the bans (which were due to expire in the coming days) until mid-May, arguing that the restrictions are necessary to stabilise stock prices.
