As anticipated in our recent Fund Finance Friday article on the topic, the addition of the Cayman Islands to the EU AML list will become effective from this Sunday, 13 March. As outlined in the above-mentioned note, we see no material issues arising from this “listing” of concern for participants in the fund finance market. The Cayman Islands remains committed to take necessary action to be in a position to be removed from this list at the earliest opportunity, potentially in Q4 2022. Given this commitment, it is not expected that Cayman will remain on the list for a material period of time.
