Nearly 500 financial industry leaders and professionals from around the country participated in Cadwalader's sixth annual Finance Forum in Charlotte yesterday. It was wonderful to return in person for a collective dialogue on the foremost issues facing the industry today, with respect to fund finance, leveraged finance, commercial real estate, middle-market lending, asset-based lending and structured finance.

This week, Women in Fund Finance introduced the first installment of its “Charlotte Conversation” series. The event featured a formidable panel of senior players in the fund finance industry who are all based in Charlotte. It was a great event, with interesting commentary from the panelists, and was followed by a networking reception at Charlotte’s Foundation for the Carolinas.
Fund Finance special counsel Mathan Navaratnam has been selected as a “Private Equity Rising Star” by Law.com International, as part of its list of 25 attorneys under the age of 40 who represent “the best of the up-and-coming talent within the U.K. and European legal industry" as based on a mix of client representations, client feedback, general market reputation and other examples of career success and innovation. We are excited to share the great news during National Pro Bono Week that our Fund Finance team member, associate Mary-Carter Stewart, along with Cadwalader Capital Markets associate Candelario Saldana, successfully represented a client referred to Cadwalader by Legal Services NYC in applying to become a U.S. Citizen.

Cadwalader partner Brian Foster will be a featured speaker at the Practising Law Institute's (PLI) "Fund Finance 2022" program on November 16 in New York. His panel, "NAV Loan Facilities," will discuss the wide variety of financings secured by the net asset value of private equity and other investments. Scott Aleali and Jeff Maier released another episode of "Fund Fanatics" this week, featuring Angel Fierro and Rory Meyers, Co-Founders and Managing Partners of Aiga Capital Partners. This episode touches on the market opportunity for private capital with regard to ESG investing, the importance of climate change mitigation, and the significance of how DEI and ESG affect returns.
This week, Columbia Law School’s Empowering Women of Color organization hosted an in-person fall mixer, where students were provided the opportunity to mingle with attorneys.
