Attorneys from Cadwalader’s Corporate Group participated in a webinar last week, “ESG and Corporate Governance,” hosted by the New York City Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel, that drew over 100 in-house counsel.
The panel discussion, moderated by Cadwalader special counsel Erica Hogan, examined the broad range of ESG issues that are regularly confronted by in-house counsel, key legal considerations associated with these issues and helpful practice points for in-house counsel seeking to navigate the evolving ESG landscape.
More specifically, Hogan focused the panelists on the implementation of ESG programs, communication of ESG initiatives to the Board of Directors and how to best prepare for upcoming SEC rulemaking in this space.
Hogan was joined on the panel by Georgia Maloney, ESG Reporting & Sustainability Director, Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc.; Ali Mize, Director, ESG, Belonging & Corporate Philanthropy, at Neiman Marcus Group, Inc.; and Hannah Orowitz, Managing Director, Corporate Governance, Georgeson LLC.
“Our clients have consistently found that investing in a strong and comprehensive ESG program delivers measurable returns for shareholders, employees, customers and the communities in which they operate,” Hogan said. “These programs are a critical part of our clients’ long-term corporate strategy and a tremendous asset to enhance the long-term value for all stakeholders.”
