Cadwalader has been named “Pro Bono Firm of the Year” as part of the annual International Tax Review (ITR) “Americas Tax Awards,” which “recognize remarkable achievements and developments by international tax professionals from the North, Central and South American regions over a 12-month period.”
Cadwalader’s Tax Group, which is chaired by partner Linda Swartz, has long been an instrumental contributor to the firm’s pro bono program as steward of its Not-for-Profit Incubator. The Incubator leverages the transactional expertise of Cadwalader attorneys and paralegals to organize and obtain tax-exempt status on behalf of a diverse range of aspiring not-for-profit organizations.
Over the past decade, the Incubator has incorporated and obtained tax-exemption for nearly 400 organizations, taking these organizations from concept to reality by working hand-in-hand with their founders to prepare formation documents and all other required legal paperwork, while covering the expenses incurred during this process.

The ITR awards winners were announced during a virtual awards ceremony on September 22.
Cadwalader’s Tax Group plays a critical role in the firm's transactional practices, including: structuring of complex domestic and cross-border deals; resolution of special tax issues of troubled and insolvent corporations and other entities; structuring sophisticated securitization vehicles and complex tax-advantaged securities transactions and products.
ITR provides valuable information on tax counsels to in-house tax teams worldwide.
