Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, a leading counselor to global financial institutions and corporations, is shortlisted for eight 2018 International Financial Law Review (IFLR) European Awards. The firm earned five “deal of the year” nominations for its work on high-profile European matters, two “team of the year” nominations, and consideration as Most Innovative U.S. Firm in Europe.

The firm’s shortlisted deals include:

Structured Finance and Securitization

  • Bradford & Bingley and Mortgage Express buy-to-let mortgage securitization (Ripon Mortgages Plc). Cadwalader acted as English and New York law counsel in the acquisition and securitization of a portfolio of UK buy-to-let mortgages.
  • CVC Credit Partners risk retention capital raise. Cadwalader provided regulatory advice in the U.S. and the EU in the structuring and establishment of CVC Credit Partners Global CLO Management Limited.
  • Premium Credit Limited (PCL). The Cadwalader team acted as counsel to PCL in Europe’s first public insurance premium loan securitization.

Restructuring

  • Abengoa S.A. Restructuring. Cadwalader represented the anchor underwriters in the €1.2 billion new money financing, advising on English law. 
  • Roust Corporation Restructuring. Cadwalader served as transatlantic advisor to the Ad Hoc Committee of Convertible Noteholders in this complex, USD $1.1 billion transaction.

The firm also is shortlisted for Most Innovative U.S. Firm in Europe, Structured Finance & Securitization Firm of the Year and Restructuring Firm of the Year.

The award winners will be announced at a ceremony on April 19 at the Savoy Hotel in London.
