Cadwalader Fund Finance attorney Johan de Wet last week participated as a panelist at the Georgetown University Law Center's Eighth Annual Corporate Symposium. The event aims to expose law students to the various career paths available to attorneys in corporate law.
De Wet, who is an alumnus of Georgetown University Law Center, spoke on the “Bank and Project Finance” panel, during which he provided a general explanation of what Fund Finance entails, and covered how it differs from other types of financings, the lifecycle of a typical transaction, junior associate workflow and responsibility, the types of clients served and how to maintain long-term client relationships.
The larger panel also spoke about the role and importance of diversity in the workplace, firm culture and teamwork.
“In addition to providing my perspective on some of the key attributes of a fund finance practice, I was especially pleased to speak about my experiences at Cadwalader, both as they relate to the firm’s constant striving to improve diversity and inclusion in every facet of its business and its ethos of exceptional client service,” De Wet said. “Overall, the event was an excellent opportunity to connect with up-and-coming future lawyers and address their demonstrated interest in the fast-growing Fund Finance practice area.”
