Cadwalader partner Michele Maman has been recognized as a 2020 “Outstanding Young Restructuring Lawyer” by Turnarounds & Workouts. Maman also was selected in 2017. The annual list identifies a dozen corporate restructuring lawyers who are under 40 years of age and have achieved exceptional results within the prior year.
"I am delighted to be acknowledged for the work I do for our clients,” said Maman. “I’m fortunate to work on unique and cutting-edge issues with a team that consistently provides unparalleled insight and service, even in trying times like these.”
Maman represents creditors, debtors, swap counterparties, monoline insurers, shareholders, committees and other market participants in chapter 11 proceedings and out-of-court restructurings across a range of industries. She also advises on international insolvency matters, including acting for foreign representatives in proceedings under chapter 15 and section 304 of the Bankruptcy Code, and represents stakeholders in cross-border restructurings.
The Turnarounds & Workouts selectors highlighted Maman’s recent work on several noteworthy matters, including the chapter 11 cases of Toisa Ltd. and Energy Future Holdings, and the representation of MBIA in connection with the Zohar CLO investment funds.
“Michele is an invaluable team leader,” said Gregory Petrick, chair of Cadwalader's Financial Restructuring Group. “Clients appreciate the real-world experience, meticulous detail and comprehensive industry knowledge Michele brings to the table.”
Turnarounds & Workouts is read by corporate restructuring professionals and features news articles, profiles of significant bankruptcy case, resource lists, and special reports on bankruptcy and insolvency professionals. The 2020 Outstanding Young Restructuring Lawyers will be honored at a reception in November at the annual Distressed Investing Conference in New York.
