Cadwalader Capital Markets partner Nick Shiren participated as a panelist at the “CRE Investment Trends, Finance & Restructuring” event this week in Frankfurt. The event was produced by DDTalks, which specializes in conferences focused on European debt and equity markets.
Shiren spoke on the panel, "European Capital Markets/CMBS," which addressed the current and near-term outlook for the CRE financing market, including the post COVID-19 recovery, the impact of the Ukrainian crisis and rising interest rates, and ESG investing trends.
With the first European CRE CLO closing at the end of last year – The Starz CRE CLO in which Cadwalader advised – Shiren discussed the emergence of the product in Europe, noting that many of the features now common in the U.S. CRE CLO market are likely to be adopted in European transactions as that market develops. Further, Shiren addressed the advantages of the product when compared to alternative CRE funding tools and underscored the significance of the Starz transaction for the European CRE financing market.
