Cadwalader attorney Gillian Burns was a panelist at the October 15 program of Fordham Law’s recently-launched Leadership Academy for Women in Law. The academy provides a weekly online program designed for mid-level women lawyers and male allies to learn from industry leaders about a range of topics geared toward facilitating and supporting equal representation of women in all areas of the legal profession.
During the panel, Burns – along with other lawyers from Milbank, Paul Weiss and Vinson & Elkins – discussed practical strategies women can employ to thrive in the legal profession. The panelists discussed goal-setting, self-promotion, proactively asking for opportunities within one’s organization, and how to successfully practice law on a flexible schedule.
Burns, a Fordham Law alumna, is a Special Counsel in Cadwalader’s Global Litigation Group and the firm’s Associate General Counsel.
Burns was an inaugural member of the firm’s Sponsorship Program for high-performing women and diverse attorneys, was the former chairwoman of its Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) and continues as an active mentor as part of its affinity network program.
