Elizabeth Gorman Shults is an associate in Cadwalader’s Global Litigation Group. Elizabeth counsels individual, corporate, and international clients in a variety of financial-services and white-collar matters.
Prior to joining the firm, Elizabeth served in the Office of White House Counsel as associate counsel to the President. In that role, she represented the Executive Office of the President in congressional investigations and managed the oversight portfolios of multiple executive departments and agencies. In late 2019 and early 2020, Elizabeth served on the President’s defense team during all phases of impeachment and trial proceedings. She previously worked as counsel for committees in both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, focusing on high-profile oversight and investigatory work, policy initiatives, and executive nominations.
Elizabeth served as a law clerk to the Honorable Steven J. Menashi of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the Honorable Katherine A. Crytzer of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee.
Elizabeth received her J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, where she was an Articles Editor for the Ohio State Law Journal, and her B.A. in Economics and English Literature from Washington and Lee University. She is admitted to practice before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, and in the District of Columbia and Ohio.
