Michael McCormack’s practice is focused primarily on the purchase, sale, financing and securitization of different types of commercial, mezzanine and multi-family loans, and various types of residential mortgage loans, including prime, jumbo, non-prime, qualified and non-qualified mortgages, reverse mortgages, fix and flip and home equity conversion loans, in both one-off and flow transactions. He also advises on the associated purchase, sale, financing and securitization of servicing rights.

Mike was actively involved in the resolution of repurchase demands and litigation matters pertaining to pre-financial crisis securitizations, focusing on discovery and due diligence relating to the resolution of such disputes.

Mike also has experience with other asset categories, including cell tower revenue, tax lien and solar loan securitizations. He has also advised on international transactions relating to airport departure taxes and cable television receivables.

Mike actively assists registrants on compliance with filings required by the Exchange Act, primarily Annual Reports on Form 10-K, Periodic Reports on Form 8-K and other ABS-related filings. He helped develop and implement innovative document automation software to assist in the preparation of some of these filings. This technology is now being implemented in many practice areas at the firm.

Mike was instrumental in the development of the firm’s Blockchain for CMBS project, presenting to clients and also working with IT staff and vendors to adapt technology to the client use case.

Mike was a secondee to the Legal Department of Goldman, Sachs & Co. LLC in 2003-4 and again in 2017, on both occasions in support of the Mortgages Desk.

Mike received his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and his B.A., summa cum laude, from Yale University. He has an executive education degree in blockchain applications for business from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
