Cadwalader earned “significant wins” at this week’s International Financial Law Review (IFLR) 2021 European Awards.
The firm was named Structured Finance and Securitisation “Team of the Year” in recognition of its work across a broad range of products and asset classes.
The firm earned “Deal of the Year” recognition in the Structured Finance and Securitisation category for its representation of MUFG Securities EMEA plc in its groundbreaking North Westerly VI B.V. European cash flow CLO transaction – the first CLO to consider ESG (environmental, social and governance) factors across all its investments. The transatlantic Cadwalader team was led by partners David Quirolo and Claire Puddicombe, and included partners Adam Blakemore, James Frazier and Gregg Jubin; special counsel Catherine Richardson, Adam Risell and Alex Collins; and associates Hugo Chan, Matthew Lefkowitz and Cassandra Nelson-Williams. According to IFLR, “The deal had to reimagine the CLO product and develop asset and portfolio-level criteria alongside a bespoke reporting mechanism, and revise definitions of what an ESG loan is, what should the KPIs be and what the manager’s policies are.”
In addition, Capital Markets special counsel Alex Collins was recognised as a “Rising Star of the Year” – one of only three – in the “International firm” category.
Cadwalader’s Capital Markets practice, including attorneys in New York, London, Charlotte and Washington, D.C., is recognised as a premier global legal advisor in securitisation and structured finance.
